Frank Magid, namesake of the media consultancy Frank N. Magid Associates, passed away this morning in Santa Barbara, California. He was 78 and had been suffering from cancer.

Cooking Channel, the upcoming Scripps Network outlet, will have Bruce Seidel as its top programming chef.

The National Telecommunications & Information Administration has given out $21.5 million in broadband stimulus grants to middle mile projects in Southern Virginia.

Media measurement firm Rentrak Corporation has reached
an agreement with pay-TV operator Dish Network to
commercially integrate TV viewing data from Dish's set-tops with Rentrak's TV

Major League Baseball Advanced Media has set the prices for
its 2010 MLB.tv and MLB.tv Premium services. MLB.tv is MLBAM's live streaming
video service, allowing fans to watch any baseball games live on their computer
